Children's Dental Services
Kids Love Us.
The Canadian Dental Association recommends a child's first dental visit take place within 6 months of the first tooth erupting or by one year of age. Choosing a place that you can trust with the oral health of your child is an important decision. At Dentistry On Corby, you can expect a comforting dental office that is warm and welcoming to children of all ages.
Why is it important to see a dentist at an early age?
Get a feedback of whether the cleaning you do at home is adequate
Your child can start to build a relationship with the dental team
To see if sealants would be beneficial for your child's teeth
To identify decay/cavity early, and fix the problem immediately
To identify any problematic habit that may lead to irreversible changes to your child's mouth/teeth
What Are Sealants?
An important preventive measure for your little ones.
As your children's permanent molars come out between the ages of 6 to 12, dental sealants may be an excellent option to apply on their top surfaces. These back teeth tend to have deeper grooves on the biting surface, and in turn, more prone for food and bacteria to be stuck at those spots. By applying dental sealants to cover up the deep grooves and create a smooth surface, these permanent back teeth are now much more cleansable and less likely to have decay/cavity.
Although the procedure of applying sealants is quick and painless, not all teeth will need them. Teeth that have shallow grooves do not need sealants. After a thorough examination with the dentist, she will determine whether dental sealants will be a good option for your children.
