This patient had braces when he was younger. However he didn't wear a retainer for his top teeth and the wire retainer for his lower teeth failed to maintain the position. This is known as "orthodontic relapse". His teeth were no longer as straight as how he wanted them to be. He was conscious of his "crooked" teeth.
